Reenactment Players Entertain Residents
July 28, 2011

Mollie Mean's Reenactment Players entertained us July 28th with her interesting group of character players, and everyone came away with a litle more knowledge and appreciation of those pioneers that paved the way for all of us. From Molly Pitcher, a Civil War fighter and the first woman veteran acknowledged by the U.S. government, to Mary Gysten, the first female attorney in Oregon.

Each reenactment brought to life our ancestors and their historical contributions, and washing down all that knowledge with mouth-watering root beer floats wasn't a bad idea, either! And just as every generation leaves a legacy, the one left us by these heroic Americans is one of industry, imagination, and determination. Thanks for the show, Mollie!

Royal Oak Retirement Hosts Ice Cream Social
August, 2010

Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream! That was the sound heard at Royal Oak Retirement in late August as residents, family and guests enjoy the second annual ice cream social.

On a typical hot August day, everyone enjoyed cooling off with a bowl of their favorite flavor, with a wide array of toppings and sprinkles.

Residents and guests mingled while enjoying a favorite musician, Dean's "Lost in Time" rendition of old time tunes. Couples disregarded the heat and enjoyed dancing to as they recalled tunes and times of the past, while many were content to enjoy a sing-a-long. Overall it was memorable afternoon with friends, family, guests and fun!
