HomePlace Specialty Care Administrator & Staff,
My mother, Marie, was a resident at HomePlace for nearly six years.
As her daughter I came to visit her frequently and came to love and appreciate many of the dear caregivers. They not only love and care for the residents but also for those of us who love them. They do what they can to make the journey towards deaths door a little easier.
It was during my mother’s last few days of life, however, that I deeply appreciated all that HomePlace is. Sitting my mom’s bed in a beautiful quiet room, watching her lay cozy in her clean sheets and soft pillows with caring “family” coming to check on us throughout the days and nights was so, so comforting.
The caregivers took her roommate to sleep in another room, they brought more comfortable chairs for us, they asked if we needed anything. But most of all, over those three days countless caregivers came in on their own time and said good-bye to mom. That was probably the most beautiful, sincere, and heartfelt thing that I have witnessed in a long time.
Each caregiver that came by walked right up to mom, who lay pretty much unconscious, and spoke directly to her, rubbing her arm or leg, they told her they loved her, some shared something funny they remembered about her, then they hugged each one of us and often shared stories with us as well. It was truly—like “being at home” with mom. If death can be beautiful, than I experienced that beauty at HomePlace throughout mom’s long stay coming into full bloom at her death. I sincerely could not have asked for a more blessed experience!
Because you who are reading this do not know me I want you to know that I am not easily impressed. I am 52 years old and have lived long enough to identify fraud and insincerity. HomePlace is the REAL deal, SOLD GOLD!
Sincerely,
Kim (daughter of Marie)
